    Planet fitness vs YMCA

I recently joined the Y about two months ago. I will tell you upfront I was totally intimidated by the whole idea of going to the gym. I was scheduled with a health coach who walked me through how to use each machine and then was allowed two more meetings to be sure I was on the right track- included in my membership. I was then given access to mobilefit which gives me my daily workout and machine recommendations- also included in my membership. Our Y has access to all equipment, group exercise classes, indoor/ outdoor pools-all included in my membership. While the Y is a little on the pricey side, it has given me an opportunity to try lots of different activities to find what I enjoy. The staff is friendly and I like knowing that my membership dues support a family oriented organization that is really focused on the community. There are a wide variety of ages and body types so I have been able to overcome my gym anxieties and just enjoy trying to live a healthier lifestyle. For me, the Y was definitely the right choice!

    Genepro protein!

Also good in coffee, scrambled eggs, and anything else with a liquid consistency! I have found it to be the best way to slip in extra protein throughout the day!

    Genepro protein!

I use Genepro as well. It is my favorite!
  4. I had the same issue and found it to be the sucralose in my protein shakes and drinks. I've never been able to stomach that stuff!

    Post surgery gas pain!

Congratulations on your surgery! These first days are tough, but completely doable, you will be amazed how quickly you will recover and begin learning to adjust to your new life. The gas pains should subside soon. I'm newly sleeved (4/8) and know how uncomfortable those first days are. You can do this! Hang in there- walking is the best thing to move that gas out.
  6. Congratulations! That is fantastic news!
  7. Welcome all of you! Congratulations on the decision to live a healthier life! I am scheduled to be sleeved on 4/8. The process seems long at the beginning, but believe me, it will go faster than you think. In the mean time, take time to educate yourself about the process and sleeve procedure on this site. You will find a wealth of information here from some very wonderful people who are in various places on the weight loss journey. Good luck!

    Protein shakes and pre-opt diet

I agree that the Isopure drinks are pricey, but I talked myself into them when I realized they were the same price as lunch at a fast food restaurant (I used to eat out a lot). I buy mine at Vitamin Shoppe which is slightly cheaper than GNC. I love Unjury also! My favorite is Chocolate Splendor with a packet of Folgers decaf instant coffee and ice. I make it in my Ninja and it's like a frappacino!
  20. After 3 years and Two attempts for insurance approval, I finally have a surgery date of April 8th! Pre-op appointment and lab work April 1st! Woohoo!!!

    I'm an April Sleever!

Clenzen- you are right, it is scary, but exciting all at the same time! I have waited three years and the best thing I could do is research. I have read this site, watched You Tube videos, read multiple books, and talked with a couple of WLS friends. Soaking up all this information helps put my mind at ease I guess. My biggest fear is not the surgery itself, but the fear of failing! That is why I love the support of this site!

    Protein shakes and pre-opt diet

I don't always feel like a shake so I have also been drinking the Isopure flavored drinks. A 20oz bottle has 40g of protein.

    Denial from CareFirst BCBS

Playing the ridiculous insurance game is very frustrating! Don't give up!!
  24. Finally finished my 6 month visit required by insurance. Fingers crossed waiting for insurance approval! Woohoo!
