Does anyone else feel like this is going slower than you thought?

Recommended Posts

Hello, i am a little over 3 months post op and i've lost about 25 lbs. and i guess that's great but when i think of what i used to eat and what i'm eating now, it seems like this should be going faster! I'm barely eating 700-800 a day versus like 3000 a day........anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I know exactly how you feel. I really wish I would wake up and be at least 20 pounds lighter. I started the gym last week and I seem to have slowed down with losing. I want to at least see a change. I can only see change in pictures but not when I look in the mirror. I hope this changes and when I reach my year I can look back and be like it worked I'm where I need to be.

OOH WEE SWEETIE

I THOUGHT I HAD IT BAD. YOU'VE GOT TO BE WRONG. 25 POUNDS IN 3 MONTHS? YOU DIDN'T START OUT AS HEAVY AS MOST OF US BUT DANG! I'M WITH YOU THOUGH. I'M 8 WEEKS OUT YESTERDAY. I HAD AT LEAST 3 WEEKS WHEN I GAINED. GAINED AND I WAS EATING LIKE 500 - 700 CALORIES!!! THEN I WOULD HAVE MAYBE A 3 LB LOST. THANK YOU JESUS! LAST WEEK I LOST OUNCES MAYBE 6. THEN TODAY I FINALLY MADE IT OUT OF THE 250'S AND WAS 248.2. PRAISE THE LORD!!! IT'S DEFINITELY A ROLLER COASTER RIDE. NOW THIS IS WHAT MY DOCTOR SAID: I HAD A LAPBAND IN 2008 THAT DIDN'T WORK - HE SAID MOST REVISIONS ARE SLOWER (I WAS HOPING MINE WOULDN'T BE LOL). SAID EVERYBODY'S DIFFERENT SO DON'T COMPARE (YEA RIGHT LOL), DON'T GET ON THE scale MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK BECAUSE YOU GO UP & DOWN. NOW I KNOW THAT IN MY MIND BUT THE REST OF ME IS SAYING (YEA RIGHT - AGAIN HOW ON LESS THAT 1000 CALORIES A DAY - WHICH CAUSES ME TO GET ON THE scale AT LEAST 2X A WK). THEN I THINK ABOUT SOMETHING AN OVER 100 POUND LOSER BYPASS LADY ON HERE SAID. I ASKED HER WHAT WAS THE SECRET. SHE SAID JUST KEEP WORKING THE PROGRAM DON'T BE OVERLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SCALE. IT'S GOT TO MOVE IF YOU KEEP WORKING THE PROGRAM. SHE HADN'T LOST MORE THAN 2 MAYBE 3 POUNDS A WEEK, BUT 2 X 52 = 104 IN 1 YEAR. I TELL YOU I LOVE THIS BARIATRIC PAL SITE AND ALL THE PEOPLE. IT & THEY ARE SO HELPFUL. SORRY IF IT SEEMS I'M RAMBLING, BUT IT CAN GET VERY FRUSTRATING AT TIMES, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE DOING YOU PART. I'M 62 YEARS OLD & USUALLY OLDER PEOPLE CAN LOSE A LITTLE SLOWER. I'M JUST BEGINNING TO WORK OUT AGAIN NOW. I'M SURE THAT WILL HELP. SO MY SISTER, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND KEEP SMILING BECAUSE GUESS WHAT EVEN AT THE PACE YOU'RE GOING IN ONE YEAR; YOU'LL BE POSTING A 100 POUND LOST. 25 POUNDS IN 3 MONTHS. 3 MONTHS TIMES 4 EQUALS A YEAR. YOU GO YOU SOON TO BE 100 POUND LOSER. YOU GO GIRL!! HAY I JUST NOTICED; YOU ONLY WANTED TO LOSE 90 HAHAHA!!

I live by this: "Comparison is the thief of joy." We are all on a journey unique to us. It may seem slow or fast compared to others but it's yours. One moment at a time. Flow the plan, keep the faith, and it will happen!

Just keep following your plan! I was a little lighter than many when I had surgery too so it's slow for me, but before you know it, you will be close to goal! Don't compare yourself to others because there are a ton of variables that affect everyone's weight and weight loss. When you follow your plan, and let time pass, you will lose.

Best of luck to you!

Carol

That's probably the problem; you're not eating enough. Talk to your bariatric nurse/dietitian, but most post op diets are around 1200/day, with Protein first, lots green veggies, Beans, etc.. If I eat less than 1100-1200, I plateau. Remember your body still needs food and energy to perform; if you're not eating enough, it will go into "starvation mode" and try to hold onto all the possible energy it can and instead use muscle in an effort to protect the vital organs. I'm guessing you're really tired as well. Talk to your physician.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
