@@teachrissy Well you came to a pretty good place for help. If you can, use the web site instead of the app at first to search through all the subjects, it's easier. You'll find places that are talking about all your concerns and people that are going through your experiences with helpful suggestions. I wish you the best and please stay in touch.

@@teachrissy, did you lose more at first and then regain, or never lost more than that? What was your starting weight, height, etc.? Maybe if you tell us more here, some of the veterans can help you make your pouch work for you. I've heard of something called the 5-day pouch test that people use to jumpstart losing again, long after surgery. I'm still pre-op myself so can't help much but I know there are lots of people here who can!

@@ymouton 2013 is a long time dumping. If you dump on everything you eat than you need to talk to your doctor because probably something's wrong. But if it's only certain things you eat than you have to stop eating them. I dump and although I still don't know everything that does it I know if it has high sugar or fat I better be near a toilet. A layman's opinion.

I have not dumped either. I have ate donuts (once), 1/2 hamburger with bun & small order of fries. The only symptom I might have is that I get light headed.

Who ever posted "I never had it; just get light headed"; light headedness can be part of dumping. Dumping has to do with the spike and then sudden drop in insulin as food sugars "dump" into the small bowel and pancreas responds to the rise in blood sugar. Can be mild or absolutely MISERABLE!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
