I've been reading benefits on Apple cider vinegar and thinking of maybe using it I've heard a teaspoon a day is very good for various things including weight loss; anyone ever tried since surgery?

@@iamblessed1225,

I've tried it and works wonders in so many ways - reduces blood pressure, helps with weight loss, digestion, etc. The best that I've found is Bragg's Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother). Google it and you'll see tons of information about the benefits. Not sure of its impact/benefits after weight loss surgery though, if that's a concern. Hope you find this useful! All the best!

No - tried it only before the procedure (I'm not scheduled til March 4th). It's a great question and would be curious to hear from the more experienced sleevers like you. Either way, wish you all the best in geting the insight on it.

I used apple cider vinegar to suppress my appetite many years ago. I would consume 1/4 cup before meals and it worked wonders. However, I would not drink it (even diluted with water) post op because it is so highly acidic. It would definitely be something you might want to discuss with your bariatrician so that you don't harm your sleeve.

I only use Braggs. I used it pre WLS and still occasionally use it post-op. I typically add a capful per 8 ounces of Water, but that's an acquired taste. It will keep you regular and help with digestion. I also have used it on salads. I don;t buy bottled dressings so I often use balsamic vinegar or pickle juice and EVOO. Depending on the salad I'll use the Braggs.

It's also good for you hair if you have product build up. You make a soak with baking soda & Water. The mother in it has Protein so even though it will scrub the dirt and oils out of your hair it won't leave it feeling stripped and dry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
