Pain Ranking: C-Section vs. Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I have been opened 3 x and the sleeve was a breeze for me as far as pain and recovery..

I thought the C section was worse. I had some complications and thought it was hard getting home with a baby that you had to take care of even though you were in pain. With my sleeve I only had to worry about myself. After the sleeve, I returned to work after 1 week. I couldn't sleep in my bed for 3 weeks though. It was easier for me to sleep in a reclining chair. Good luck!

2 c sections, they were worse than the sleeve

I haven't had a C section, but I had a radical hysterectomy in which everything was removed; ovaries, lymph nodes, uterus and fallopian tubes. I also weighed at least 90 lbs less than when I had my VSG.

Both were done laparoscopically. I kid you not, the VSG was easier by miles.

Wow I was just saying to someone the other day that my c-section was way less painful than the sleeve. It was a different pain - more like I'd done a thousand sit ups - but the sleeve gave me a sharp intense pain for at least two weeks and felt like I was being ripped apart internally every time I did something to set it off!!

I have had two c sections and I had VSG on 2/23. I was told vsg would be easier than c sections but for me vsg was worse than both of my c sections combined! My first c sections was great second was hard especially since I had an 18 month old but once I got home from vsg surgery I had more pain then I had even had in the hospital. Now that I'm over a month out things are much much better. It was just alot but I'd do it all.over again!

I had 2 c sections, and then the sleeve 27th feb .... Zero pain with the sleeve. It was just easy.

I'm hoping vsg is less painful than my c-section. While the pain wasn't terrible, that feeling like your stomach is going to tear open when you stand/sit after a c-section is the worst!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
