So after months of appts and weigh ins and back and forth and back and forth.. I was approved ..yay for me right. Now I'm scared .. Not of surgery its self. Not of the pain but I'm scared. I've always been fat. Like idk anything else...why is that so scary to me????

I understand, I've been fat my whole life. It is weird thinking what it's gonna be like? My date is March 2nd and this month is flying by. I find myself wanting to eat and wanting sugar. I was fine during my 3 month diet. I lost 20 lbs no cravings but now I'm wanting to eat.

I'm also stressing over money and the house. I have to have to have 300 bucks to the doctor on the 12 this month.

You're not crazy for being scared! It's a normal thing to feel especially bc big changes are going to be happening to your body! Think of it as a new beginning. My surgery is tomorrow and it's now just starting to hit me that people are going to be viewing me in a different light because I won't be fat anymore.

I think I was scared until I was knocked out, but there were other emotions too. Confident that I was being taken care of, confident in my body's natural ability to heal and do what it needed to do, confident in my surgical team and family support. Some how the confidence outweighed the fear and I moved forward. I'm 3 weeks out and and still don't believe I did it! You'll do great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
