SECOND stall in 2 months post-op

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 12/8 and have only lost 22 lbs since the surgery. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall, but it last for FOUR FLIPPING WEEKS! It finally broke and I lost 3 more lbs in 2 weeks. Now I'm in the midst of another 1 week stall.

I knew to expect the first stall, but is the second one so close normal?

I know it's not productive to compare myself to others, but I really am getting discouraged that I haven't lost more by this point. I'm getting my Protein & Water, watching my carbs and get about 800-900 calories a day. I'm also working out about 3 times a week.

UGH!!!

I have done the exact same thing. My stalls last up to six weeks and they are one right after another!! At first it drove me insane because I wasn't losing.....my husband would say how could you not no more than your are eating??? I still get discouraged.....I would be lying to say I don't....but I keep doing what I ams suppose to and my body does what it wants to.....hopefully someday it will all hit!!! I have lost quite a few inches when I was losing pounds.....but dang I would like to see those scale plunge!!!

I swear, I've been in a constant stall since the day of surgery. Seems like I never lose anything, then one day I wake up and pounds are gone, and I'm already back in a stall.

Seriously, it's about that bad. My "days in stall" hugely outnumber my "days losing weight". But the overall trend is down, so I figure that's just how my body works.

I am also the stall queen. The good news is, it does seem to catch up. I lose for about a week to 10 days and then hit a stall that can last up to 3 weeks. I simply stay positive and try to stay away from the scale when I am frustrated. I see it coming off in inches. I had to go buy new jeans again! I have gone from a 26 to a 16. And that size 16 is comfortable. Woot woot!

I keep thinking that my exercise is building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so I may not actually be stalled.

Last week I was on a cruise and although I cannot eat much, I found myself trying a bite here and there of things I probably shouldn't. I expected not to lose at all last week given the cruise. I jumped on the scale when I got home and was down 2 lbs! I was very very active and assume even though I had a bite of dessert here and there that I worked it off.

Anyway, stalls can be very frustrating. I find staying positive and sticking to the plan helps (with the exception of my few bites of sweets last week).

So glad to read other people are having this problem too. I am down 25 lbs since surgery, which was on 12/30. Over the past 8 days I have fluctuated from 230.2 to 230.8. This morning it was 230.8. It's very frustrating.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
