Hi Maria Elena, my doc has put me on a pre surgery diet. I have to drink Meal Replacement shakes. I'm in the phase where in have a shake for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can have 1 to 2 cups of veggies with lunch and dinner. I used to be able to have a snack like a cheese stick or yogurt but now I have to give those up and have a small shake. About 3 days before surgery, I can only have liquids. I'm a little nervous. I'm starting tomorrow. Wish me luck! ???? And good luck to you! ????

Stacy458 I been having a hard time resisting food. This whole weekend all I did was eat. My surgery is March 25. What did they tell you to do to prepare for your surgery. My doc said don't gain weight. ????

Moored I'm scheduled for March 25. Are you having to do anything to prepare for the sleeve. Curios.

I'm on day 6 of a 3-week pre-op diet. Doing ok so far. Yesterday was tough though. I'm not really hungry just annoyed lol. I am allowed 4 high Protein ensure and 3/4 cup of Greek yoghurt. I see what some others are allowed and I feel like stomping my foot and saying "no fair"! Lol - but since I'm not 7, I'm trying to suck it up. I'd just love a piece of toast right now though!

You'll be great! Drink lots of Water, tea whatever! I bought some crystal light which has helped a lot. Great side effect of this liver shrinking is that I'm shrinking a little too! Averaging about .8 lb per day!

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I'm only allowed Protein Shakes, broth, Jello, sugar free pudding, popsicles. No veggies or anything. Can I just be honest, I'm terrified. I also HAVEN'T heard back from insurance....I think it's going on two-weeks. Ugh, nerve wracking!

Why is everyone doing a 2 week pre op diet and I'm not. My surgery date is March 25. My surgeon told me not to gain weight but no shakes required either. March 18 I go to a 5 hour seminar in his office with dietician etc. Please help give me advice.

. I only had to do 3 days and had a good experience with no problems.

@Stacy 458

My weight was up 5 pounds after I ate that cheeseburger and fries last Sat. How is that even humanly possible? I was down 1 pound this morning. I basically lost a week's progress. Oh well...not going to dwell...especially since I'm on day 2 of this liquid diet. Hey have you or anyone reading this tried those new Swanson chicken broths that are infused? Like the Mexican Tortilla or Chinese Hot n Sour? I was just wondering...all these Protein Shakes are so sweet. Something savory would break it up a bit. Anyway...I saw you were starting your pre op. Yay! Good luck...stay positive!!

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
