I don't want to eat!

Still on liquids/yogurt and I just feel like it's my job. It's so uncomfortable and I just dread it. I know I've got to get my Protein in, but I'm really hating eating right now!!!! Help

Are you making smoothies? They're great for getting your Protein in and you can vary them with small handfulls of different soft fruit like chopped banana, blueberries, mangoes, raspberries, kiwi fruit, strawberries and they help make the Protein powder taste better too.

Also a chocolate milk with plain cocoa powder, a little vanilla essence and I use soya or almond milk rather than cow's milk with a little sugar-free sweetner. Divine!

These are some pics of my banana/ mango and fruits of the forest smoothies, inspired by 'Return to Slender' a wls surgery cook book. Similar receipes can be found on the author's website: http://www.bariatriccookery.com

Make it tasty and even if you can only manage a few sips or spoonfuls at least you're taking in something.post-241698-0-43790000-1422985612_thumb.jpg post-241698-0-13723300-1422985809_thumb.jpg

Yup, poor little tummy has been sliced, diced and definitely not in the mood! I focused on Protein drinks, greek yogurt and Water. Didn't meet targets for awhile but just kept at it.

Hang in there, it does get better ☺️

It will get better. I'm 2 weeks post op and it's much easier now than the first 10 days.

I'm 7 weeks out, had surgery in December, and I found that my appetite didn't improve until I started pushing myself to eat more interesting stuff. So I started researching recipes for every stage and made myself create something interesting a few times a week. Whatever I didnt, eat I froze. This method has helped me get past that "Its not even worth it to eat that Greek yogurt again" feeling.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
