I'm scheduled for sleeve to bypass revision on July 29. Tonight I am terrified. I hope I'm doing the right thing. Since my sleeve in 2013 I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation sleep apnea and High cholesterol. My lowest weight was 212 pounds but I am back up to 250 pounds. I know Healthwise I am making the right decision but I'm just so scared. Being a nurse I think of all the complications that could occur although unlikely. I have great faith in my surgeon but I'm still having second thoughts. Is this normal?

I am also in the same boat as you....but my surgery is the end of September. Had band in2007 did great. Went in September for a simple 'port repair" doctor removed my band. I literally gained 50 lbs from sept to jan 9th when this doctor didactic partial sleeve Gastrectomy...what is s that????anyway, have only lost 15-18 lbs. I went back to my original doctor who did the band and wished I had stayed with him. They were treating me like I was at fault. I know it falls on me but I never had any, zero restriction. After going through all the tests, again, I do have a larger stomach and that contributes to it. Doctor is doing the bypass and I'm a little freaked out. I trust him completely but the re routing stuff is what scares me. I'll keep y fingers. Please keep me posted on your journey! I'm praying for a smooth recovery and success for you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
