Hey guys! My name is Quinn - I'm 24 and from Massachusetts (USA). Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. I'm so happy I was referred to this forum. I'm having my surgery in July.

I was wondering if anyone else was a fan of the television show Lost?? I'm a fanatic!!! ;) If there are any other Losties....do speak up!!!!

I like Lost too! I miss too many of the episodes, so that the story line and characters sometimes get too mixed for me. I like the mystery though and someday I will get the series on vidio to fill in all the gaps. I really wanted to know what the heck those black bee like things that stared down the Christian man was. They were only in a couple of episodes though, I suspect I may never know what those things were supposed to be. Any guesses? I hope the series continues for a long time.

I LOVE Lost!!!!! Although I HATED season 2 and almost gave up on it. Season 3 redeemed the show for me!!! I SO hope Charlie isn't really dead! I also like that we don't know if Locke is good or bad. I didn't care for the "future" flashes...don't know how they plan to proceed, but honestly, I'd like a little less flash backs/forwards and a little more island time! Don't get me wrong, I like the flash backs, just sometimes they get a little long in the tooth for me.

I'm looking forward to season 4!

yay!!! lost fans!!! I totally agree...I watched season two but was disappointed. they totally made up for it on season three. You can rent season one and two at video stores if you need to catch up. I cannot wait until January for the next season!! The season finale was such a cliffhanger. EVEN MORE QUESTIONS NOW!!!!!!! Kate driving a volvo?? dont think so!! haha. I absolutely LOVE Jack. He needs to find happiness. I really like Jack and Kate together. Well, we definately have to discuss this more!!

They kinda put Mr. Eko's storyline on the backburner. I think they saw it wasn't the most popular storyline. Whatever this island "monster" is, it appears to be able to read or sense the castaways memories and feelings....hence why they all start seeing things from their past...ex: jack's dad, kate's horse.....

Charlie. He will be missed!! That was so sweet what he did - the list!! awwww!! Plus, i like desmond a lot. I really hope he gets to his penny!!

alright, i'll shut up for now. So psyched to see other Lost fans!!

Quinn, at first I was afraid to reply, I didn't want you to think I was stalking you LOL but I am a huge fan of lost!!! We watched the first 2 seasons on DVD and the 3rd on TV. I hated waiting a whole week and sitting through commercials...tons of them!

I did not hate season 2....

I do not want Charlie to be dead!

If you did not see it, if you go slow when they were with Jacob...there was one quick flash of him in the chair.

Check out TheFuselage.com....great Lost threads, my son goes on all of the time and comes back with different theories!

I can't wait until January!

I loved Lost before it was on. The previews were so exciting to me.

I love to read this genre. Horror/sci-fi has been a big part of my life since I was about 11 years old.

When my husband say the previews he says that looks like a show you will love. I said I know (drooling).

Remember Twin Falls. I love that one too.

My fav character is Hugo. He sure scored some points for the fat people didn't he?

edie a "Lostie"

I love Locke character too.

Metalband - I dont think you are stalking me! haha - Great minds think alike. I've never met a fan of Lost that I have not liked! ;) I can see you are a diehard fan like myself. I didnt want charlie to die either. I wish Desmond could have saved him. I am so excited about the next season. It is going to be good!!! I think Matthew Fox did such a great job in the season finale. That performance was not easy and he did it brilliantly. I love all the Lost websites.....you can find yourself stay on them for hours reading about the island and the characters....it is all so interesting! I didnt hate season two...I just felt they wanted to keep interesting so they added these new characters but added too many and most were not that likeable. I really appreciate they immediately saw that it was NOT working and fixed it. But, yeah I liked season two - especially the jack-kate-sawyer situation. When it comes down to it Lost is just great freakin' television and I'm going to miss it incredibly when it leaves in 2010!!

EdieParks - I know exactly what you mean!! My boyfriend said the same thing - - oh no, this looks like a "Quinn" show! haha When I first saw Hugo I was like..."great. another stereotypical overweight character" I love how he has held his own and been an important part of the group and never let anyone intimidate him. I was crying my eyes out when Libby died and he said..."I'm sorry I forgot the blankets..."

Lets definately keep this Lost chat going! I can talk about it for hours and hours!!!

What do you guys want to talk about first?

Hot is not a strong enough word.....smoking hot at the very least!!!

Jacob????? No clue.

I want to know why Mikeil won't die (guy with the patch).

Last season my screen saver was the numbers, to get back you had to type them in and you would hear the sounds of it going back to 108. It was so cool!

Sawyer is a very attractive man but Jack is pretty much the complete package for me. I absolutely love the man. He's attractive, smart, brave, and emotionally distant and complex. :) If I were kate....and I'd be pretty damn happy because she's beautiful.....I'd so pick Jack.

As for Jacob - -I dont know. It would seem Jacob is Ben's prisoner...he doesn't want anyone ever to talk to him and remember what he said to Locke..."help me". I think Locke was meant to help the island be released of Ben's reign. But you know with Lost....As soon as you think you know....they totally throw a curveball.

Okay - be honest - Do you like Juliet?? Yes, I feel sorry for her and she's a very smart woman but she is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too cold and distant for my Jack. I didn't like how she was using him as much as she did. Jack would never do that to her. But she's probably better than Sarah - - brat!! :) I like him best with Kate though. I think Sawyer should be with Cassidy....especially when he finds out there is a baby on the way or possibly has been born!!

UGH! I hate Mikheil.....he does appear to have nine lives! That screensaver sounds awesome....Hurley is so cute about them. When he explains the numbers to Jack.....it was so sweet...."I'm not crazy."

I want Jack character as my husband and Sawyer as my secret lover.

In my dreams that is.

Hugo in real life has a very attractive wife. Yeah for the woman who can see past the extra weight. I like Hugo's hair too.

That Juliet character is a sneaky snake.

As for Meikel maybe the writers have a thing for an eye patch. Mysterious and sexy (?).

I gonna love this thread.

Juliette is a snake....agreed on the husband lover thing, I would just add that I would want Hurley as my buddy too.

Locke-good or evil??

Ben-what is his fate?

Desmond-okay I would take him too brother! What happens to him?

Will Sun have the baby, a friend for turnip head??

I would love to know your thoughts,

Maureen

HAHA! See sawyer - I'd just want as a buddy - especially after they went over his sexual history!!! haha! Dr. Jack Sheppard - yeah, most definately my ideal husband and I gotta say I find Desmond a cutie as well. I still believe that Locke is good. He could have hurt Jack but he didnt. I think he just does not want to leave the island - - if you were him - would you?? Plus, he believes in fate and that they have a purpose on the island. Thank god we agree that Juliet has gotta go!!!! I think Sun will have Jin's baby....come on....that would be totally cruel if it wasnt. Ben - its not looking to good for him right now. I think he was supposed to protect the island and he failed.....he got greedy and the power went to his head. I think there is more to it than just the "fertility situation" on the island for bringing Juliet on. I hope Desmond and Penny are able to be together but I think he is a very important person in all of this and will not be able to break free. I was thinking I could "fix" Jack and become his wife.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
