Vitamin Blender - anyone have one for after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I was debating on getting a Vitamix Blender as you can make plenty of smoothies and Soups in it. Does anyone have one? Has it helped out at all after having surgery or hasn't really made a difference? Thanks for any input.

Hey, I bought a Blendtec (same thing). Great blender, but the bottom line is, you're not gonna be blending everything for very long. So I only use it occasionally to make smoothies. The ads are enticing but they make it seems that you'll be blending all the time. Once you get to whole food, that's pretty much it. Can't really use it for Protein powders, as it creates way too much foamy froth.

I use mine mostly to make popsicles and smoothies. (be sure to use frozen fruit)

long story short......you can get away with a standard blender. - cheaper. ;)

I love my vitamixer! I got mine a few years ago for Mothers day from my wonderful hubs. Love love love it! pureeing ANYTHING and making HOT Soup in the blender is a wonderful thing! Costo has them sometimes.

Thanks for the input. I caved in to QVC and I ordered one today lol I think I was just looking for a reason to get one lol. I do believe I will use it a lot through for a lot of different things. We will see.

I use mine to make hummus. And green smoothies as I have a hard time eating enough vegetables otherwise.

I use mine all the time. You won't regret spending the astronomical price for it. They are expensive, but they are worth every penny.

I bought the Nutribullet RX, and I love it especially if you want to eat apples and veggies. I found it works really well, I have not made any of the Soups yet with it, but the smoothes are out of this world and it was only $199.00 at Bed Bath and Beyond. I am not on pre-op diet yet but am starting to use it to get ready for when that day comes.

Agreed. A vitamix is a wonderful thing. I plan to purchase one myself. However if you're only going to make smoothies or you don't cook, just buy a smoothie maker and save your cash.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
