  1. I'm 58 and had period 2 times within first six months of surgery. Now over a year and no more. Thank goodness.

  3. At 3 1/2 weeks I was just starting on soft foods - eating around 600-700 calories. I'm surprised you could eat the eggs and sausage and tolerate them. Were you hungry? Was this a one time occurance or can you consistently eat 1100 calories each day? On the positive side one can still lose weight at 1100 calories. But my main concern for you is that your stomach is In the very early stage of healing...I'm glad you will be talking with your NUT. Also now is the time to take every advantage of little to no appetite...it's a one time opportunity that will only last so long.

  7. cindy4157, my surgeon's office told me to strive for a calorie goal of 1100 calories. I'm just over 4 months out and not quite there yet, but getting close and I'm still losing weight, obviously not as rapidly as at first, but I'm not exercising consistently yet either. And my energy level is much better than it was when I was around 800 calories.

  9. Gotta wonder what in the world makes them think 20lbs a month is slow?! In fact it is fantastic! I'm 4 months out and have only lost 42 lbs since surgery, and now it's really slowing down. So you are doing great!

  20. I left an abusive, drug addicted, regularly cheating husband, who said he wasn't attracted to me because I was overweight. I had no job skills and two children. Now 20 plus years later I have a decent job, own my own home, and am so much happier. And the weight loss this time is just for me.

  23. My insurance had this same requirement. I was 245lbs and lost 16lbs in the 6 mo. I lost a few more lbs during the pre-op diet. Looking back I'm happy to have lost that weight prior to surgery as it was a big help towards getting the weight off. If I hadn't lost it I'd have only lost 30lbs to-date, but instead I've lost 51lbs! Good luck!
  24. I've been eating nuts since allowed at 4 weeks with no problems.
  25. I too had hiatial hernia prior to surgery, with gerd. Stopped Prilosec 4 weeks after surgery with my doctors blessing to only take as needed. 7 weeks now and haven't needed it yet...
  26. I'm in menopause, but at 5wks post surgery, had period. . My surgeon said if it happens.
  27. everyone responding to what has happened to you, is with you in spirit. I can only imagine that you are feeling emotionally and physically tapped out. And yet, u must find the strength to get your fluids in to give your body what it needs so you can heal and move on to the next phase with food, etc., and then day by day, you'll start feeling better. In the meantime, do you have the energy to take short walks...even if it's in your living room? Moving, change of senery, or fresh air, might help with your back pain and lift your mood. Is there anything you can think of to do that would cheer you or help you feel better, e.g., watch a funny movie, take a shower, mediation, a friend or family you could call...? I feel for you sweetie and pray you r feeling better very soon.
  28. Sleeved on 1/29, down 21 lbs since surgery, down 40 lbs overall. Easing into regular diet. Only issues have been passing a kidney stone and hormones wacky - in menopause but had a period. Yuck! I am loving the lack of appetite and the feeling of being in control of my eating for the first time in my life. it is just wonderful and I am going to do everything I can to make sure I build a foundation of healthy dietary habits to carry me through the rest of my life, like eating mindfully, choosing healthy foods, obeying to my body's "enough signal" and tracking my food intake. So nice to see all of the Dec sleevers posts and hear how everyone is doing.
  29. My surgeon used the davinci robot for my surgery also. She told me it allowed more natural wrist turning/bending, so I was all for it. 4 wks after surgery no leaks and seem to be healing well.
  30. I use mine to make hummus. And green smoothies as I have a hard time eating enough vegetables otherwise.
