We had a 3 birthday weekend here with lots of food. Very hard. I did eat some unhealthy foods. I'm afraid I'm heading down the wrong path again. Now that I've tasted a lot of my favorite food I'm craving them again. Any suggestions out there on how to kick back in line to a healthy restart? Feeling like poop today. Really disappointed in myself.

Carolvalen, Congratulations you have experienced your first major trial to your post sleeve experience. As a result of your choices you feel like poop physically and emotionally .

BUT, more importantly you are facing this blip in your program with an eye to the future and a clear understanding that you want to make changes and getting back on track. The blip I feel is inevitable on our wt loss journey, but how you choose to face it and get past it determines your success in the future. You may want to go back and write down all the reasons why you wanted and needed your surgery. Keep the list with you so when your cravings hit, pull out your list and read it. This has helped me.

The other thing I want you to do is talk to yourself out loud as if you were talking to a dear friend who has gone through what you have. My guess is you will talk to this friend without shame and blaming and failure. You will be encouraging and compassionate. Don't you think you will benefit more from a place of positive self talk?

You are not ready to throw in the towel, so pick your fabulous self up, dust off yourself and make the choices you know how to make..

Welcome back on track. Onward on your journey to health. Enjoy your new day. Paula

This weekend was my first bad weekend as well but I am determined to get back on track today!! I had an awesome Insanity weekend and I am sticking to my meal plan today and the rest of the week. Don't let one or two day derail you.

Have a great week-

LA

There isn't any magic trick. You just have to do it. Accept that you made poor food choices and move on.

Next time prepare for holiday/birthday/special occasion. Eat a small Protein rich meal beforehand. Carry a bottle of Water with your and drink every time you feel tempted to overindulge. In short, plan for ways to negotiate that special event. Include a small piece of cake or some small indulgence.

Thank you so much. Your words are inspiring. I needed to hear that I'm going to get through this and we all make bad choices. I knew it but it feels good to know I'm not alone. Thank you thank you so much.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
