My irrational fear - lap band slip in pregnancy

Recommended Posts

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have not had morning sickness during this pregnancy except for a few mornings when I know I just needed to eat (never vomited). But in the last week or two I've been getting more nauseous and I'm so afraid that I'm going to either find out that my band has slipped or I'll vomit and it will slip. I'm completely unfilled just for reference.

Tell me I'm crazy. If it continues, I'm going to go see my band doc.

ETA: I am noticing that my stomach is rumbling really hard because it's on empty, but when I take even one bite sometimes I'll get the "I overdid it" left shoulder pain.

you probably should consult your lapband surgeon and see if they suggest removing some Fluid to allow you to eat. I have seen a few band patients that got pregnant and that is what they did . I hope you start feeling better soon.

I'm already on empty, no more to take out. I think it's "Protein pain" I need to be eating more Protein, and sometimes when I'm on an empty stomach I get the pain just like I would when I ate one bite too much.

But yes, I will go see him. Thanks for your reply.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
