Exercise routine for beginners or meal ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I was sleeved on Jan 6th and am down 24 lbs since starting my pre-op diet. I'm doing pretty good and my surgeon cleared me for the stage 3 diet with approval to introduce fish, chicken and soft foods. My fist question is exercise. I walk everyday for at least 30 min, but want to do more. I know running and cardio is out of the question since I was just sleeved; but, can you recommend any exercises that you've done that can fulfill that gap of wanting to do more? Also, being approved for stage 3 with the introduction of chicken, fish, and soft foods, what did you make that would fulfill your calorie and Protein needs, but also fill your family? Is there a cookbook or anything that you know of that can assist with changing it up while eating pretty much the same things? Thanks in advance, this place is wonderful!

I'm vegetarian so I can't help you with the chicken/fish recipes. As for exercise, I got some light handweights 2, 3, 5 lbs. and did arm reps while sitting down. You want to start light and be mindful of your incision sites. I have poor upper body strength and it's one of my goals to improve that.

Resistance bands are good.

Also, check out the blog, The World According to Eggface. Shelly has lots of Protein recipes, including ice cream!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
