Hello I need some help, and support:

I am almost 5 years out from having gastric bypass surgery. It has changed my life. I lost about 100lbs. Last year was a real struggle for me. I am slowly starting to pick the weight up. I constantly snack and it's junk. Snaking is my biggest issue because I still cannot eat a full meal. But I snack myself sick. I was doing really well for a few months with meal prep and working out, and I got a new position at work and got off track. I don't want this weight to creep up on me. I need help. I really need some pointers on how to jump start. Please help!

Thank you

Have you heard of the 5 day pouch test. Do a web search and see what you think. I'm to new to this game yet to try it out but I've heard a lot about this test. Good luck

I was also going to suggest the 5 day pouch test. I highly recommend it to kick start everything again! I'm getting ready to do it myself.

Go back to the basics:

keep a food journal--this is key.

drink all your water!!!

don't drink anything with your meals\

no carbonated beverages at all

chew your food to a pulp

eat slowly but don't take more than 30 minutes to eat

Count your grams of Protein and make sure you get all your Protein in

Protein first!!

And I would highly recommend a support group and/or therapist that specializes in food addiction or cognitive behavioral therapy or some such

Best of luck. You did this before and you can do it again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
