I start my pre-pre-op diet today! shake for Breakfast and lunch and a bar and lean Protein / veggies for dinner. THE Optifast IS DISGUSTING! it has 20g of sugar and 14g of Protein when PREMEIRE Protein shakes are 30g of protein and 1g of sugar and tastes way better. Does anyone know what in this shake "shrinks your liver" vs. the premier shakes? or is a crock of BS? For 3 dollars a shake it does not justify to me at all! =( I have to buy them at my doctors office which makes it super pricey. I can't find them online anywhere.

Sounds like a scam, although if thats what your surgical team is recommending then I would roll with the punches. My NUT gave me sheet with different shakes to choose from my pre op starts Feb. 3rd I think i'm going to use the premier Protein. Oh just a side note it's the lowering of carbs that shrink your liver, carbs turn to sugar and have to be processed by your liver causing elevated triglycerides and fatty/inflamed liver.

The shakes don't reduce your liver. Very low carb, low fat liquid diet and the resulting weight loss and reduced inflammation reduce the size of your liver

The Optifast has way too high carbs to be useful for you.

I have to go back Wednesday to get more. They're so disgusting im afraid if I tell them I won't buy them (mind you its 3 dollars a shake x 3 a day for 2 weeks) what if they cancel my surgery because I won't drink them?

I know many doctor's offices have deals with doctor's offices where they have their patent's buy a particular brand of Protein Shakes. I don't know if ethically they can make buying their shakes part of the surgical requirement. I would definitely ask. Just tell the the Optifast makes you sick and you've found a comparable brand of Protein Shake that you prefer.

They can't cancel your surgery for that I don't think. I'd go with blerd girls recommendation in that they make you ill because they're to sweet.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
