FUNNY question for post op 3 weeks or less

Recommended Posts

I actually had a sort of opposite experience. I had kind of felt like it would all be slow, no one would notice, i would be able to not tell people I'd had the surgery. I'm down about 25lbs since pre-op and suddenly, I looked in the mirror and I looked thinner to myself. And an outfit I had worn not long ago that fit normally then was baggy and loose. So now I'm like, Hmmmmmmm. This is going to be noticeable... :)

I do know what you mean, though! I kind of wish I had a chart to follow that indicated how much weight I'd be down, and when. It's funny making plans and thinking, "I wonder what I'll look like in February/April/June..."

I'm 3 weeks post op on Monday. I started to see a difference right away. I drove myself crazy with the scale because it was on the fritz. I ended up literally throwing it out the window. It was liberating and I loved the breaking noises. Then I bought a new scale. I dont really care what the scale says because i can SEE a difference. The scale hasn't dissapointed me yet, though. And I step on it often because I like the blinky lights on the display. Ha.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
