Week 5 Post-Op

Recommended Posts

Happy New Year to everyone!!

Just checking in for my week 5 post-op weigh in - This week is a loss of 0....

I had decided to allow myself the week off my blog so that I didn't have to come clean about my 0 loss. I've since realised that that is not the way to be and I need to be completely honest.

Admittedly it has been a bit difficult with Christmas and New Year's celebrations, and combined with the fact that I am on holidays from work, eating just tends to be something you do to fill in the time.

I definitely do not feel a lot of restriction after my first fill 2 and a half weeks ago, so I am very much looking forward to my 2nd fill on 23 January. I have read a lot about this and it is known as bandster hell... That time between having surgery and hitting the green zone with your Fluid fills - you feel like you can eat as much as you did prior to surgery - looking forward to getting past this phase.

I still have another week and a half off work so I need to work on a few things between now and then.

Anyway, to have lost 11.8kg in 8 weeks is still pretty good going and will work on shifting that by my weigh in next week.

Best wishes to everyone reading this and hope that 2015 brings all good things xxx

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
