1st fill after total deflate !

Recommended Posts

Hi all I've been banded for 10 years and had a complete unfill in June this year due to acid reflux. I have since then gained 2.5 stone (35pounds) and feeling miserable decided to go for a fill. I had 5ml put into a 13ml band and apart form severe abdominal pain ( so bad I couldn't drive home ) I have no restriction at all today but still feel vey uncomfortable almost like I've pulled a muscle I'm my abdomen. I've called the clinic today and they say it's swelling but I'm wondering why no restriction ? Anyone had similar experience ? Thanks

Hi there my circumstances are slightly different I was only banded 16 months and had my band fully deflated for my TT. I had a fill 6 weeks post operation and went back up to 7cc. Got a huge bruise on my port. Never did before, burped a bit but absolutely no restrictions whatsoever which surprised me. Had another fill 4 weeks later up to 9•5cc (had previously pre op been at 10•75cc's comfortably and doing great) it was excruciating. Reflux vomiting pain in my back and shoulder. Had 1•5 removed. Instant relief but no restrictions really and my weights soaring. Due to poor choices and will power as well as quantity. Going this Wednesday for a refill will let you know how I got on :-))

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
