I called my doctor and he let me come in after 6 days instead of two weeks. He said it is more based on progress (ie off pain meds, walking easily) than a specific time.

Drink lots of Water and if you have a family to cook for, pass the responsibility onto someone else if you can. The hardest part for me was cooking and knowing I couldn't eat!!!

You can do it!! Best of luck :)

I just keep thinking that this is shrinking my liver and will help my surgeon preform a successful surgery with minimal complications and that this is only for a very short time in the scheme of things. Plus it's a head start on all the weight I need to lose.

It's tough, I know. Hang in there! You can do it and in a few days your hunger will be more manageable (and it helps to avoid food situations if at all possible - easy to say, hard to do with Christmas this week). :(

Vitamin Water Zero kept my electrolytes in balance and helped with headaches. I drank at least 2 bottles a day. By day four or five my hunger and bad mood subsided a bit. I also went ot bed early....lol

You've got this!

Get as creative as you can. Use s/f Torani syrups to change the flavors of your shakes, munch on ice chips, enjoy different flavors of s/f Jello.< /p>

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
