Hello everyone,

I was banded on 2/22/07, I am currently down 18lbs and my doctor says that I am on track. But I can't help to feel that I should be down more by now:angry

I just had my second fill last Wednesday, 5/16 and I had hoped that would allow for more restriction and a more sense of fullness, but that happened only on the first day.

My doc says that he put in 2cc's, but it really doesn't feel like it?? Are all bands 5cc's? Cause he said I already had 4 in there and he put in an additional 2, is there such thing as stretching the band to where it doesn't cause much restriction??:help:

First off, you are doing very well. While there are some people who lose quickly with the band, it is important to remember that the band is actually designed for us to lose a safe and healthy 1-2 pounds per week.

Not all bands are the same size, so you should ask him what size yours is and how many cc's it holds. The other important thing to remember is that sometimes it takes as many as 2-3 fills before you begin feeling true and proper restriction. Additionally, for many people, including myself, their fills don't kick in until about 2 weeks after they actually get the fill.

I know how you feel. I had my second fill yesterday and I'm on liquid today, but so far I have not felt much restriction at all. I have only lost 23 lbs since March 12 and I have been disappointed when I read how much some of the people have lost. My doctors office tells me same thing that I'm doing good. Hang in there I'm sure we will start to lose our 1-2 lbs a week soon.

i don't believe you could have already stretched you band (too early on to do something like this). My sister hand problems and they did a esphogram (ask for one it measures the actual size of the banded area). Hope this helps....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
