Haven't been on here for a while so here is where I am at: WAITING! Everything has been finished and even called my insurance for any information they may have. Still pending is what was told. I had my information submitted about a week and a half ago. I have Buckeye Community and it is for Cleveland, Ohio area. Which brings me to wonder...why are there hardly any people here or on other bariatric forum sites from this area?! Anyhow, I am going to sit here patiently b/c beggars can't be choosers and I have waited this long anyhow. In addition...I am scared to death of the surgery! I am scared of my health problems as well, but the surgery scares me also. Does anyone else have this fear? Does anyone else feel like "why" is this the way to improve my health?! It hurts so bad to know that my diabetes (type II, insulin dependent) has caused such damage, not to mention a whole slew of other issues. Sorry, this became a rant.

Hello @@mama0297 You are on a really great site. The people here are so friendly and helpful. Sometimes we just like to lighten the mood and have a few laughs. But this is a great place to hang out, and ask questions, and get advice, offer advice, and be there for other people who need someone to just listen. I'm in Kansas, so not a Buckeye, sorry. But I am done with most of my pre-ops also, and I have to wait till after January 1st, for my insurance to be in effect for me to have the bariatric center of excellence submit for approval. So, I am also waiting. I did something the past 10 days. My last appt with my pcp for my 6th month supervised dr diet visit on 12/9 was a 6 pound gain. (ouch! I know!) So I began eating as if I had already had the surgery so I could prove I could lose, and I lost 10 pounds in 10 days!! Certainly most was Water, but 10 is 10, ya know? So my pcp can honestly tell my insurance co that I followed his diet and had a loss. :) Hang in there, and it's always nice to meet someone new!! Sherrie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
