QUESTION- CAN WE EAT PUDDING AT 4 DAYS POST OP?

Recommended Posts

@@Forsythia Yep. That's my issue also. No appetite. But today I was feeling really shaky. I got in 48oz fluids yesterday. But today it's hard! And on top of all of that I decided to do a bit of shopping. Not a good idea at all needless to say. I've never seen Protein pudding at GNC. Been there several times lol lol Will definitely pick up a pack tomorrow for sure ???? Thanks ????

I'm 5 days out and struggling with the balance as well. My dr has 4 phases. 1st was Clear Liquids for the first 2-3 days. Then days 3-14 are full liquids. pudding, Greek yogurt, soups(creamed/puréed ) and strained, cream of wheat etc but not much more than that. I'm full eating the 2-4 oz at each sitting but then I do actually get pretty hungry after a few hours, which surprised me. I am getting in about 40-50 oz of water/fluids and about 50g of Protein via Protein powders mixed in soups/puddings etc at the end of the day.

I'm hoping when I go for post op checkup on thurs he graduates me to next phase which is still soft / puréed foods but allows something more substantial. cottage cheese, ricotta, mushed over ripe bananas etc.

I am a little worried about the lack of weight loss. After the surgery my scale said I gained 10 lbs from my surgery weight. Then 2 days ago the scale said I was down 10 lbs from my surgery weight and tonight scale says I gained 4 lbs from my surgery weight. Whhaaaaaat is going on!

I'm all over the place. Anyone else struggling post op? Is this normal?

Stay away from the scale. It will drive you crazy. If you must weigh no more than once a week. Even then make it make it consistent. Same day of the week and same time of day.

My surgeon allowed it, so I bought some Protein pudding On line. 15g of protein! Took me all day to eat, but still super good!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
