It'a like somebody flipped a switch

I'm a little over 5 months out, and I feel completely different. The growlies are gone. So are the hiccups and the feeling that the sleeve is caving in on itself,. My appetite is also gone, but in a good way. I feel content almost all day without hunger. I never really cared about what I was eating, but I care even less at this point. food is just to meet my Protein requirements and to follow my surgeon's instructions.

Now if I would start losing weight, that would be thrilling.

I'm just wondering how long this feeling is going to last, It's great right now.

So your stomach stopped growling? I pray that I experience the same soon. The noises that emit from my stomach is so loud I try to either not eat around anyone, or eat a couple hours before I have to be in someone's presence. Imagine how difficult that is to schedule. Also, are you saying you were hungry after surgery and at five months the hunger went away? And are you no longer losing? I know, I'm full of questions, but I found your post very interesting as it highlighted so many of my own issues. Thanks.

Congrats on reaching that point. It has to be a great feeling! I really think that how long the feeling lasts is up to you. As long as you eat like you should and don't give in to cravings and stretch out your sleeve, it should last a long time. As for the slow weight loss, don't lose hope and don't give up! Everyone goes through the slow phases. Best of luck and keep it up!

Yes, I've been hungry a lot after surgery, and yes, my loss is slow. I'm not even at the weight (190) where my surgeon thought I would be by September.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
