Asked my surgeon about bougie size - he said he gives everyone a........

size 40 bougie. He has found that is the best all around size (in his practice anyway). Seems odd that everyone would get the same size no matter who they are if they choose him for a surgeon. Any thoughts?

I'm surprised that most people don't even know what size they are but I wouldn't have thought to ask had I not read about it somewhere. The size is just a guide so it's not an exact measurement of your stomach and the bougie sizes are usually only Millimeters different, unless your talking as 32 and a say 60 then it's def different.

Bougie is the item the surgeon uses to size your stomach with. They insert it down your esophagus (thread it down) into your stomach and then snug your stomach up against the bogie and use it as a guide for where they will staple/cut your stomach. You can google it and find info.
