Dh had WLS...now it's my turn!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My husband Squale had lapband 6 weeks ago, is down 55lbs and now it is my turn.

I am going to the initial consult next week, the nutritionist and psych the week after and hope to have surgery the first week of July.

I've been fat my entire life save a few years as a child...and, after having twins and a singleton in 22 months, decided it was time to make time for me!

So, here I am waiting for insurance approval and a go ahead from the dr.

Looking forward to meeting all of you further!

Rainer

Congrats! Both of you being banded will be helpful, you can be each other's support. My DH laughs when I go through the things he did, but then again he understands it better then anyone else I know, he already was there.

Hi there and welcome to LBT! I think it is great when couples go through the banding process together (even if it is a few weeks apart). What a great support system you can be for each other. I hope you get your insurance approved quickly and are in bandland soon!

Hi Rainer!!

I've met your nice hubby in real life, and I can't wait to meet you at a support meeting. You and I can be baby bandsters together, since my re-banding is scheduled for June 4 and it feels like I'll be starting from scratch. Welcome to LBT, and I'm sure I'll see you around!!

Hi ladies,

Thanks so much for your welcome. Pat is doing such a great job, I'm so proud of him...but, at the same time, I am JEALOUS as heck!!

Alexandria, Pat told me that you met at the support meeting. He said that you are a sweetheart and very inspirational. And you're right...he is a super nice guy.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Rainer

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
