Surgery tomorrow, December 1

Recommended Posts

I am home. VERY tough. Stomach very sore, still have not passed gas so buildup in the abdomen is very

painful. This surgery is tough. I am sure that a few days from now I will feel better but right now I am

miserable. Walking, focusing on Fluid and Protein intake.

Well, I am 2 weeks out from surgery. It was NOT easy. I don't want to scare anyone but just be prepared that it will be tough for a short period of time. I was fine until Day 2 at night, stomach pains became unbearable. I was up walking the halls of the hospital. The drugs put your bowels to sleep and you have to wake them up so you can let gas. Burping does not help, you have to let gas. Do everything your doctors tell you. Day 3 was really tough for me. I was in a lot of pain. Day 4 slightly better, Day 5 started to do much better. By day 8, I was feeling pretty good. I think the only thing that got me through was knowing the Day 2-4 would be TOUGH, and it was. I did not take any of the pain narcotic upon leaving the hospital. I did take a gel cap tylenol every 4 hours for 2 days and then started backing off those. By day 4 at home I was off all pain meds. I did not take the narcotic as it makes your bowels sleep is what I was told and I wanted the gas OUT. Getting rid of the gas and having a bowel movement is what made me feel better. On day 14, I am 18 pounds down. Total down so far is 31 pounds, pre diet and after surgery. I walk EVERY day 10,000 steps. It is perfect for me as my local starbuck is right at 5000 steps from my house. I walk up there, have a herb tea, hang out, and walk home. Listen to your doctors and eat NOTHING you are not supposed to eat.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
