Just going stir crazy

Recommended Posts

I am 14 days post op and tried to ride my bike today and was still to soar to ride. I am going stir crazy taking it easy. I was an active person before surgery and now I am feeling stuck and held down.

I know, me too. I am 3 weeks post-op and I have to go slower then I used to but everyday I feel stronger. I don't feel bad just don't have the energy. Also, I usually take a short nap in the afternoon or I have to go to bed by 7:00 PM. That's how tired I am.

@@Beni, I am going to bed at 7pm too. But I wake up ready to start my day a 3am and then I'm ready for bed again at 6am. I know with time I will find my new normal, just wishing for some instant gratification.

Lol. Me too. My sleep schedule is so messed up. Last night actually was not too bad. I delayed my nap until late afternoon and forced myself to stay up until 10:00 PM. I only woke up once at 2:00 AM but after a little TV in bed I managed to fall asleep and woke up at 6:00AM. I can live with that. But most days my night's sleep is 6 hours max and fractured. I think I'll have to find a routine and stick to it to reset my clock.

I'm 5 weeks out and still a little sore, however I go to the gym mon, wed, and friday and then do the stationary bike on tues and thurs. I've been going stir crazy as well, but now getting out more. It might wear my out faster, but its glorious knowing im looking and feeling better. theres a light at the end of the tunnel!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
