What kind of "stop signs" does everyone get? I'm just a little over one week post-op, and third day on Stage 2 (pureed foods). I think some of what I'm experiencing --- yawning, a sharp shoulder pain, and/or feeling my food travel down --- may be signals. I've been very fortunate to not have any nausea or vomiting (so far), but I am uncomfortable --- I think I should've stopped eating sooner than I did (this just happened once, with my dinner of pureed scrambled eggs and ricotta cheese). Do you stop eating at the first twinge or get a few more bites in?

I usually have a very slight feeling of being full and/or a little hiccup. I stop there. I don't want to get to the "one bite too much" stage.

I stop at the first feeling of being slightly full. I always feel fuller after I stop, so I don't want to push it. The post-op feeling of too full is much more uncomfortable than it used to be!

At almost a year out, I still get the hiccups, a belch, or a tupperware burp. The shoulder pain has more to do with residual CO2 in your abdominal cavity. That will dissipate soon.

I stop at the first sign of that belly tightening , full feeling. I'm sure I could get another bite or 2 in. I almost always end up with like 2 bites left on the place. However, I'm trying to train myself to stop at the first signs of feeling full so I make myself stop instead of pushing for those last 2 bites.

@@JerseyGirlShirl I stop at the first sign of any tightness. It's hard to explain the feeling I just know. Sometimes I will just count my bites And stop before the feeling.

I would have a hiccup-burp combination or my nose would run - once that happened, I had to stop immediately...one more bite and I was in major pain!

The main way I know I'm about to be full is the feeling of bubbles moving around the food in my sleeve. If I go past that stage, I feel a stabbing sensation where my esophagus meets the sleeve or I feel this painful stretching sensation in my stomach. I don't push it to this point very often and when I do, I get a painful reminder as to why I don't want to.

My nose starts to run ... I am three months out today... I have gone past that one bite too many and it is a horrible feeling. I am a better judge now.

There's a tightness at the top of my stomach -- or maybe (erk!) in my esophagus -- that lets me know I've gone a bit too far.

I need to figure out what the signs are BEFORE I get to that point.

Because I focus a lot on eating ALL my Protein, I sometimes conflate that urgency with the same focus I used to have on "cleaning my plate." I think this could wind up being a problem for me down the road. Going to be aware of that.

I often have 1 or 2 bites left when I get to this stage. I am forcing myself to be okay with leaving those 2 bites.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
