I started out with a chewable multi Vitamin. Having a heck of a time with them. Dry and almost make me gag. So a friend of mine gave me a couple powdered multi vitamin packets to try. Don't like these either. I'm pretty tolerant of things so I'm frustrated with this issue. My question is at any point in time are we allowed to take a multi vitamin in PILL form???

I think you can take them in pill form but you would have to cut them to ensure that you don't get it logged between your esophagus and your baby stomach. Plus, it's more work if you have a busy schedule. Try taking the Gummy. I switched to pill form when I was six months out taking half in the morning and the other half in the evening. I was sooo happy when I switched from gummy to regular pills so I get your pain.

Good luck, you're still a newby so stick with the program for a bit longer.

I didn't take Vitamins the 1st month. I started taking Vitamin pills once I was release to eat full foods (at week 4 post-op). I've never had a problem with any pills post-op - other than being careful about how much Water I'm washing them down with. (It sucks taking a big swallow and the pill doesn't go down and then wondering if I take another swallow, will it be too much for my sleeve. :P )

I have read where some people are pureeing their Vitamin pills and mixing them into Protein shakes.

You want to ask your surgeon about rules regarding pills. They all vary -- there is no "we" in post-WLS patients when it comes to things like medications, food, exercise, alcohol, caffeine, etc (unless you are talking to someone who had the same doctor you did). My doctor's rules may be very different from yours.

All that said, have you considered liquid multi-vitamins? I took Wellesse liquid multi for four weeks after surgery - a double dose. I didn't have any trouble getting it down, but you can dilute it with Water or light fruit juice if the taste bothers you. My labs have always been great. Good luck to you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
