Any November sleevers ?

Recommended Posts

I'm seeing it on the scale as well. I lost 7 pounds on 1 week liquid diet before surgery. Gained those 7 pounds back after surgery with all the iv liquids they gave me in the hospital. Lost them in three days and have now been losing about a pound a day.

Hello all. Mine was Nov. 10. I would love to hear how all of you are feeling. I am very surprised at how good I feel. No nausea, no reflux. The only time I feel badly is when I forget and gulp down Water. Then it hurts :-) Are you still on full liquids?

Mine was the 17th. Instead of staying one (1) night I ended up staying three (3) due to not holing anything down. The gas pains have been horrible (can't imagine what it would be like WITHOUT walking 3x's a shift, the GasX strips & chewables!) really would like to stay in touch w/ people that had surgery on my same date and follow each of you in our daily struggles & triumphs!!!

Hi fellow November sleevers. I was sleeved November 11. Lost 7 pounds on my week long pre op diet and have lost 9 since surgery. My question is does anyone else not feel hungry. I have to make myself eat. I'm on pureed phase for next three weeks. I have no desire to eat. Ive been like that for the last couple of days. Ive been forcing myself to eat. Any suggestions???

I had surgery on the 18th. My incision for my drainage is really sore. That's were my "problem" is. I also have zero appetite. Today I've had 4 oz of chicken broth, and 4 oz of pudding. Getting ready to make myself eat 4 more oz of broth. I know I'm not getting in the Protein I need, but if I eat more, I'm worried I'll hurt my new pouch.

My legs are also very swollen still, I'm assuming its where I received so much Fluid while in the hospital. Did anyone else have this problem?

No Fluid problems and no drains. It won't take that long to get rid of the hospital fluids. How long u have to have the drain?

they put the drainage tube in the day they did the surgery. I keep it for a week and then they take it out.

I would love to be a of your group. Had my surgery on November 19. So far I have not had any problems post-op.I have been able to get 2 Protein shakes and a small cup of chicken broth. As long as i just take a sip at a time. Seems to be working for me. My one and only problem is getting my crushed medicine down with only tiny sips of Water.'m have not had a lot of pain which is good because I am allergic to morphine, purqset (?). vicodine, and tramadol.I can start on my pureed foods tomorrow, Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try first ?

I'm exactly the same as you! :) excited to start puréed foods tomorrow! That's really good that you've gotten two Protein Shakes down. I've only managed to get one (through tiny sips throughout the day) and some broth and sugar free Jello. I'm thinking I should focus more on the Protein though.

Same thing though with the crushed vitamins! Uughhhh.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
