Just what you need, Janet. An excuse to go shopping. LOL

I went to the doctors today for a follow-up visit since he cut back on my meds. And, GUESS WHAT? !! I got to say bye-bye23_1_29.gif to the rest of my diabetes pills and bye-bye to the rest of my blood pressures meds. He's still going to monitor me and I have to go back in three months.

Ya, ha,ha,ha.... yeah, what a hardship.... Janet SHOPPING!!!!! Congrats though, what an awesome Honor!!:lol:

Kari; fantastiac news... to be off both meds.... you have done your body proud GF! :wink2:

Congrats on getting off the meds Kari!

Just checking in with today's totals. It's been strange. My weigh in day is tomorrow and I'm not feeling confident at all. There are just days when I feel fat and I can't suck my tummy in. Today is one of those day. :thumbup: I've stayed under all week if I take into account my exercise. And I only really overate the total on Thursday. But still.... it only takes one lapse day for me to gain a couple of pounds. :thumbup:

I really need to work on my Water. :)

Calories = 1,059 (net = 900)

Carbs = 160g

Fat = 28g

Protein = 42g

Water = 48oz

I know Candice is going to check in with her totals later, but where's our other calorie counting sister Steph? :huh2:

Congratulations on all the good news everyone.

Hate writing in this color and size, but I can't change the font again.

It must be this computer.

Congratulations Janet, and I also loved the green dress.

We got a day off of school today. Ike gave us some windy weather and we lost power all over so they cancelled schools everywhere.

Houstons gonna get it bad. I hope they don't have too much damage.

Ruby: Great totals today on your food plan. I know what you mean about feeling fat though, even when you've eaten properly...AUGH!

I have felt completely bloated the last couple of days. PB'd and then tonight... well... as you can see from the time ~ I AM UP.

I have a bad case of the GIRGLES, it is so loud that I can't get back to sleep...so I had tiny sips of Water & the heartburn has eased but I can't sleep with THAT noise!! My DH woke up and says "what the hell is THAT?" so I got up and am now on the computer.

If I go back to sleep it'll be in the little guest bed downstairs..... hee, hee, he won't be able to hear me gurgle from down here!

Denise: How is your neighborhood doing in N.Orleans? did you have much damage/cleanup to do after Gustav?

I honestly don't think I could take it, year after year always wondering if I was going to have to evacuate, and deal with the aftermath... I guess its a good thing I am a Canadian and just have to shovel snow 4 months per year... but then again, if you've always grown up living with your geographical shortcomings it becomes part of your experience and make up.

I once lived on the west coast(Victoria, British Columbia) and I couldn't stand the weather out there.... the sun never shone in the winter months, I found it so dreery and ached for a bright sunny, snow filled day...with the ice clinging to the trees and the sun light sparkling on the frozen branches, just beautiful....

hummm, perhaps I am part Eskimo????

Janet: I too am worried about our friend, I am sure a phone call would be appreciated. Oh yeah, I vote for the GREEN DRESS too!

Phyl: Got my new computer in the lower house hooked up again yeasterday! Oh it is so fast!!! My DD donated it to me... she had it in university, but now has a company Laptop to use all the time, so I got her old one - yippee!

I have to spend a few days re-loading my favorite files back on it and downloading a few casino games hee,hee.

I know what you mean about the gurgles. I think my doctor installed a gurgle machine in my chest as well. :tt2: Some nights it's really loud.

As far as PBing goes, Phyl put me onto Papaya Enzymes and they really seem to settle things down after I've had a session. Maybe I should try them for the gurgle machine too.

Official weigh in today puts me at 171 even. :thumbup: I was hoping to get to 170, but beggars can't be choosers. Maybe next week. I'm just so damn tired of being in the 170s :)

Gonna make more of an effort today with my water. I've been really slack for about 3 days in a row. For a water patrol member I suck right now. :thumbup:

Anyway, that's me so far today. Hurricane Ike is meant to make it's presence known this afternoon, so I had to clear things off my patio/balcony and put plants in my son's bathtub. He's not impressed. :thumbup: It's not meant to be too bad where I am, more of a tropical storm and it should shoot through in a few hours. I hope Donna is okay. I know a lot of power is out down there, so I hope that's the only problem she's gone through.

Will try to check in again this afternoon. :huh2:

Good Morning Gang

Yes I am at home and not at the gym... Why you ask cuz I did what all my sisters here told me to do - I went to urgent care after work and go my ankle/foot x-rayed...

Well - it was really inconclusive - the doc showed me this little defect but didn't know if it was old or could be the way my bone just was (it's the bone to my toe - i would call it the ring finger toe (next to little toe) up at the top there is a little splinter if it went all the way up I would have a bone chip - it's to hard to explain) but there was no radioligist (sp) there at 5:30 they would have someone look at it and let me know - but I am suppose to stay off of it for a few days... I really don't have any pain just a little discomfort - it's barely swollen now but by the end of the day it will be...

I can tell you something funny though - when I was trying on clothes last night and had heels on it hurt less than being barefoot...

I did what Ruby suggested and did a fashion show - I will post on a thread under Lucky #7 master thread and you guys can look - The pics really don't show the outfits as well as they do in real life - but it's funny I think the white pant oufits make me look the thinnest funny you would think that I would look fatter.. Yes I know I am not but I still think I am sometimes - mantra size 6 you aren't fat...

Kari - CONGRATULATION ON YOUR MEDS BEING TAKEN AWAY HOW FANTASTIC !!!

Candice - your tummy growled that loud to wake up dh... OMW I have never had that..

Ruby - How did your weigh in go - Usually when I think I haven't lost is when I lost the most :)

You guys are so funny about my shopping - but I really havent' shopped since our MofA trip - I have really been trying to cut back on expenses - heck in the last 2 days $950 spent just on Andrew's car - $500 deductible - then $450 brakes and oil change.. So I think I may have to do with whats in my closet.. Who knows - it's only 8:30 a.m so I may decide to go to the mall..

Well just cking in - I didn't post last night cuz I was doing my fashion show and I didn't sit down til 9:30 - ate 1 tostado and 1 pudding

Now, I need some advice here. I'm not sure what is going on. This might be a little graphic so.........To start, I had my last fill in May. Finally restriction. But the last couple weeks, I've been waking up and when I cough, I have this nasty glop in my mouth. I figure it's reflux. Then, last night, I took the one night pill and then I remembered that I wanted to take a laxitive cause I haven't had a dump in a week. Okay, back track here a bit. Ate dinner a good six hours before this. Lean cousine Sesame chicken. then a couple hours I had one wheat thin (it was nasty) Now, after I took the pills, I started feeling queasy. real queasy. went into the kitchen and PB'ed. Now, I was watching cause I wanted to make sure those laxitives didn't come back up cause I needed them, big time. PB'ed once, and then all of a sudden, I started spewing this black stuff. It tasted nasty. Like what is in my mouth in the mornings. So, today, I am going to try (notice I said try) to stay on a liquid diet and flush my pouch. So far, I have had a Dan Active for Breakfast and one and a half bottle of Water. Going to have broth for lunch and then we'll see after that.

Has this ever happened to any of you? If I need an unfill, why now and not three, or even two months ago? What is your take on this?

23_33_18.gifRuby, we are in about the same weight here. Congrats.

Phyll - You got that right. Elastic waistbands suck. Now, I bet I could go at least a size smaller if I could get rid of that excess belly skin.

Candace - I have to admit that I am no eskimo. I hate the snow. Although it is a good excuse to stay inside, hibernate and eat. (oh yeah, we don't do that anymore).

HAVE A GOOD WEEK-END, LADIES. The way the rain is coming down here, you'd think we were in Texas and not Michigan. Although I don't remember getting a good soaking raid like this, this summer.

Kari - Black stuff - are you sure it wasn't blood??? That would concern me... I will only take pills when I have a totally empty pouch - and that's only in the mornings - The chewable Calcium is a laxitive for me - If I have 2 at nite when I go to bed I always go in the morning.. Or i used dulcolax they are tiny orange pills before I figured out the chewable calicum did the same thing without having to worry about becoming dependant on laxatives..

I think the liquids is a good idea:tongue:

Black stuff is NOT good.... could be old blood.

No dump in a week is also NOT good!

;):smile::):smile::)

I think you need to call your doctor first thing Monday morning, if not before!

I couldn't agree more. Take thyself to the doctor. If you're able to take a sample of this black stuff along it may help as well. Perhaps if you spit some of it in a zip lock bag? Sounds gross, but your doctor may be able to determine at a glance what it is.

Yesterday's totals are:

Calories = 1,294 (net 392)

Carbs = 131g

Fat = 46g

Protein = 20g

Water = 8oz :)

Yeah, my water intake is embarrassing. Especially considering I did plenty of exercise yesterday. Today is my lazy day. No exercise at all, so I'll have to be more responsible about what I eat. ;) Sometimes I wish I was 6 years old again and didn't have to be responsible for anything, not even myself. :smile::)

My bicycle is working for me. I bought my bike 2 weeks ago and have ridden 100 miles. Today I can't ride because we are getting dumped on from Hurricane Ike. Next Sunday I am planning on riding a 46 mile ride. I thought about a century ride taking place on 10/12. I have to see how I do on some of the other rides before I take on 100 miles in the same day. If I don't ride it, I will volunteer and ride at least part of it. I also continue to lose weight and inches from Curves. Down another 7.2 inches in a month. We have gotten over 4 inches of rain since 3 a.m. this morning. I have lost 8 pounds in two weeks. I have 33 pounds to get to goal. That is a normal BMI. I

Two more pounds and I am at a 29 BMI only overweight and not obese. I'll be there by next weekend.

Ruby, your totals are great, Sorry I've let you down today & yesterday... emotional eating... I was kinda bummed after going to a funeral. But that shuldn't be any excuse.

I have the rest of TODAY to be more accountable. Going to a SPA this afternoon for some R & R.

      I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

      Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

        I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

        Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
