Its my Hubby that's retiring from the Cdn. Navy... I'll still be working 4 days per week...

No, we are not concerned... we have enough stashed away to be comfortable... not rich by any means, but we live modestly and keep a little aside for traveling... Plus that's what I save my Work $$$'s for... traveling and having FUN!!!

Life is too short to save everything for a rainy day... plus I want to be able to travel and enjoy things while our health is good and we are young (at heart) enough. I am NOT leaving money to relatives, that's for sure...

I hope that dosn't sound selfish, but that's the way I feel.

Hi everybody,

Chim-Congratulations!!! You look so young in the pictures you posted, much younger than your avatar pic. I read an article in Jan. Reader's Digest about weight loss. It said to eat right when you are pregnant because how you eat affects if the child will have weight problems. It made me feel bad for my kids. Too late now.

Titiana is insane!!!!!:cursing: and OMG that cackle.

Candice - I feel the same way - and with the economy the way it is - I won't be selling a ranch anytime soon so - heck my DS & GKids will be getting more than me... But once they sell - I will retire and travel...

Tatiana.... the manic girl on American Idol. I think that's why they're keeping her on... I don't think she's that talented, but she attracts a lot of attention because she's psycho!

Sorry!! My personal opinion. She's extremely annoying to me!

Scale moved GOOD today! And I'm feeling better! Head still hurts a little, nose is sore, not coughing to much and went to Water aerobics again!

Excited about Linda & DH coming on Mon. Found them a place to rent here in the RV park & hoping I might talk them in to 2 nights instead of 1.

Janet, please, please shake off that crud!

We have big plans for Monday!

Shopping, Tram, dinner!

Janet, you were a wild child.

Donna, I was thinking the same thing about those pregnant stomachs. I wish mine looked like theirs. I definitely look more pregnant then them.

Phyl- glad you're feeling better

So who made the cut tonight?? Our last two minutes got cut by the TiVo! So we know Jasmine, and we figured out Nanoop or whatever his name is, who else?? We like the skinny guy and the blues guy.

Ya as I was watching Idol last night I knew who she was referring to I forget that most of the pple on here are ahead of us in time zone - She is such a drama queen

I'm better - I think it may just be allergies - I am taking clardein - heck it's like taking speed - I have been up since 3 - well maybe cat napped for 20 minutes or so - but when the clock said 3:45 I got up - I will be dragging butt tonite...

Ya I chatted w/Linda on FB last night found out she was staying at your park - so I guess I will meet you guys at your place around 12:30 on Monday and we can go from there

Janet, you were a wild child.

Denise - Yep I was a wild child you know your typical catholic school girl - but I had most pple fooled - I looked and acted like a nice girl but - I was hot to trot..

I didn't really grow up til I got around 40 ish :0)...

So who made the cut tonight?? Our last two minutes got cut by the TiVo! So we know Jasmine, and we figured out Nanoop or whatever his name is, who else?? We like the skinny guy and the blues guy.

Ya I tivo'd too and the show ran over - but thank god my dvr let me rewind to see who went thru.

NO Tatiania thank god !!! yes she is very annoying - I think she can sing but too much drama... The very end - Matt I think is his name - the one who sang MJackson - did get thru instead of Anoop but then simon said this yr we are having 13 - Anoop made it - I was glad - I like him but I bet we have a double elimination next week.. Think the blind guy just got the sympathy vote.. I don't think he's that great but will see - it seems like the pple I like in the beginning end up fading and then someone I didn't care for excels - like David cook last yr.. Lil Rounds is the one to watch out for right now IMHO -

The tattoo girl made it thru & Jasmine - Blues guy and Anoop

Sounds good. Looking forward to it. Will you have lunch before you get here?? Or we can get a mean beef taco at our cafe for $2!

Thanks for the AI update! It was very frustrating that we didn't get to see the last two minutes. My fault, I think, because I scheduled something else to record after that and apparently gave TiVo permission to clip AI without thinking about it!

I loved David Cook. He was always one of my faves from the beginning. David Archuletta on the other hand bored me to tears.

I really like Lil Rounds, but I didn't think her song was all that. I completely disagreed with all the judges and my DH when they said she sang it phenomenally. It didn't even sound like music to me. As for the blind guy -- yep, he definitely got the sympathy vote.

Getting a taco there would be good !!! Well my DVR only records for 1 hr and the show ran over most likely cuz of drama queen..

Hi there ladies. Checking in. Got a stomach bug about 4pm yesterday and have been down and out since then. Still feel not so great but will live....didn't think I would before 4 today. Throwing up all night but am still able to get Water down so Im sticking to liquids as much as possible. Trying to stay hydrated. Supposed to have a fill on Monday so I don't want to ruin that. It's been since November when she took almost all of it out.

As for the 3day Car, you can find the schedule of events at Welcome to the Breast Cancer 3-Day: Schedule . The one in the twin cities works better for my schedule, but Seattle would get me out to meet Karri which I have wanted to do since she introduced me to this wonderful thread right after my surgery. There is one in Denver you know. I'm going to have to get the go ahead from my doc before I say I will do it. I'm probably going to need an MRI on my lower back to rule out any forthcoming surgery...or rule it in. After my crud last night I can hardly walk. I'm afraid it is going to blow out any time now. I don't know how long it will be after surgery until I can be back to myself. I hope not long. Or maybe training for the 3day will make it better. I don't know. When do you go to France?

Okay....too much thinking. Getting foggy again. Will check in later tonight. Love you ladies. Tell Linda hi for me. I'm so jealous.

Oh, my!! So sorry to hear you got sick!! I've been worried about what would happen if I got he stomach flu when I'm this tight! As miserable as I've felt, I think I'd rather have a 2 week cold than a 24 hr throwing up flu! That is the worse kind of sick in my opinion! I HATE to throw up!

Sure hope you don't have to have surgery on your back!! That would be a real bummer! And hope the 3 day in Seattle will work for you. Would be really nice to see you and Rose and meet Karri! If you do it, I will make sure we don't head south to CA until afterwards. Earl is talking mid-Sept, so that should work out should you all decide to participate. We would be there to help in any way we can... transportation, etc., and will help raise support. Already talked to one friend of mine who is a breast cancer survivor (as is my 86 yr old Mom). I lost several cousins my age and younger to this dreaded disease, so I am an enthusiastic supporter.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
