My waist is shrinking but the measuring tape!

Recommended Posts

Is ticking me off! Yes, I know it's usually the scale that we're at odds with. I can see an actual waist. Back fat is disappearing but I've lost one silly inch in months. I should clarify I have lost almost a foot of waist. But it really shows now. Stupid measuring tape is going to find its way to a land fill!!!

Don't be frustrated. Sizes are so inconsistent and I get myself confused as to what size I should be in. I am a true apple shape with the roly poly barrel body. Once I picked up my pace on cardio ( mainly hiking and cycling) my belly started to melt. Congrats on losing the foot of waist. Its a great feeling!

Funny, I love my measuring tape. Because whenever I stall out I lose inches somewhere. So It keeps me motivated when the scale is stuck. I also like to go shopping and try on clothes to gauge how my weight loss is progressing. I can no longer eyeball clothes and say hey, that looks big enough. My mind still has me in size 24 tops and 26 pants. Trying clothes on tells me I'm in a 14/16 top and 18 pants.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
