Ice cream makes me have dumping

was this regular ice cream? Because I've tried no sugar added ice cream without any issues. Just a tip.

Have to be careful with foods that have crispy edges. Have to dip them in a sauce or liquid to help. Ex: tempura shrimp.... have to dip them.

In general, I really listen to my sleeve and stop when full. Don't push it.

Red wine. Too many tannins. No actual foods bother my sleeve though.

When do you guys try some of this stuff? Specifically the carbonated beverages (soda and beer) and the bread, Pasta, rice or potatoes?

I'm just curious because I was told from day one (like in the informational seminar, day 1) that all of those listed are pretty much no-no's for life. And any high sugar/carb heavy foods like ice cream.

Granted, I know we're all humans and we'll have slips, but I'm petrified to even try any of these things (mashed potatoes aren't even considered in my soft foods phase). I don't want try something and discover that it's a trigger food and then have to deal with those insane urges and cravings for more.

No foods disagree with me so far, although the Bariatric Advantage Multivitamin made me nauseous, so I switched brands.

I find that ground turkey seems to fill me up faster than ground chicken and I can easily overeat with the ground turkey if I don't watch my speed.

I had a few ounces of meat from fried chicken yesterday and I was expecting my sleeve to object, but it did not. And the chicken was delicious. :)

Since being on my forever diet (1 month out) , I haven't had any problems. I've had bread (45 calorie slice ), rice (both white and brown), ice cream (no sugar added). I have come to the realization that food has its purpose. It is to nourish me. If it's not healthy then I am less likely to eat it. Whole grain bread, healthy carbs (fruit), and some starchy veggies are Ok in moderation. I have tried diet Pepsi and I don't like taste of it. Quite honestly, even if I have craving (because Lord knows I've had them) I'll usually eat something healthy but filling and I'm too full to even think about eating anything else.

I was permitted things like bread, wine, potatoes etc. at six months out, but only in very specific situations. I can't bring them in the house, eat them in a car, or eat them alone. So I could try a piece of bread when eating with friends at a restaurant, but I couldn't buy a loaf of bread for home consumption. If I were having dinner at a friend's house and she served mashed potatoes, I could have a few bites, but I couldn't buy a bag of potato chips and eat them in the car on the way home. So that keeps my consumption of those sorts of things pretty limited.

Hello I am day 8 from my surgery and last night was the first time I was able to eat fish and applesauce...and it felt a little uncomfortable or either I was scared to eat. But I did OK...I only had a pinch of both...still scared.

These Are great rules!!!!

Do you live alone? I would love to do something like this but I just can't bring myself to completely eliminate these things from my kids and husbands diets. I've cleaned up what they eat a LOT but I do give them their whole wheat bread and such

Rice bread and Pasta were allowed in my soft food phase. If I eat them, I try for whole wheat bread and pasta and brown rice. With bread, sometimes I just want a ham and cheese sandwich. I still make pasta dishes like lasagna for my husband. But I try to make it with lots of meat, cheese and spinach. I don't eat a lot of it.

@@jess9395 I do live alone. My personal opinion is that my theoretical children and spouse don't need crap like bread and potatoes any more than I do and that it wouldn't hurt them to abstain in the house. They can always get that stuff outside the house if they would die without it. ^_^

I get you. I don't consider whole wheat bread, sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice, fruit, oatmeal etc to be cramp for everyone though. People with food/carb/issues like we have yes for sure, but I think my kids and husband can incorporate them into a healthy diet. Cookies/crackers/chips/etc are gone, but those types of things remain in my house. For the most part I am not drawn to them anyhow, and only eat them occasionally for running fuel.

But I also can't bring myself to totally tell them no never to the occasional box of Girl Scout Cookies or other once in a while treats. DH has one of those eat anything metabolism which fortunately my 16 & 12 year olds have inherited!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
