It's been 9 months since my gastric bypass surgery. And I was wondering has anyone tried corn after surgery? I've been craving some corn but not sure if it's a good idea from what I read on line.......

At 9 months post op, you should be able to eat corn without any issue. The only thing I would caution you on is to take it slow at first. As with adding any new food, try a little bit at a time until you know how your body will react to it, then go from there.

I am 18 months post op RNY. I use to love sweet corn. I have eaten corn a few times after surgery. The most I can eat is less than one ear of corn. It seems to cause me to gain weight so I generally stay away from corn now.

I'm 7 months out. I've eaten it many times.

Is it the digestion of the corn itself or chemical make up.

Reason I ask is I found some Campbells corn Soup that is pure liquid. I was thinking about adding it to my diet next week.

I have eaten corn, I am 7 months out.

I would say stay away from corn casserole, I had a bad dumping episode, way too much sugar.

This is actually quite a relief. For years, I have had a very large garden and this year alone my wife and I froze up over 90 dozen ears of corn off the cob. Really, all I have heard is that there are many items, including corn, that you can never have again if you have gastric bypass.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
