I was wondering if any guys get testosterone shots after surgery?

I've been getting them to help me keep my muscles built and so far its working out great. I have insurance so its no cost to me but cash pay runs around $225.00 each shot. I go once a week and get an injection.

If you have insurance there are testosterone pellets called testopel. You don't have to go every week. I thinks it like once every 8 weeks. I am not a male but I work for a urologist. Quite convenient.

hmm. I'll look into that. The sad thing for me is I'll love my insurance at the end of the year. I've been paying $171.00 a month with a $1000.00 deductible. I got a notice last month telling me that BCBS will no longer offer this plan. A new plan is around $463.00 a month. :( I hate the thought of going to a higher deductible. I might just forgo insurance altogether and pay the small penalty.

I am a medical biller and this new insurance is a nightmare. I feel so bad for the patients who pay a high premium for a policy that has high deductibles! Can't win for losing. I think overall the cost of the weekly injections add up to about the same as the Testopel does just a lump sum for eight weeks instead of the weekly payments. Good luck to you!

I got my primary care doc to prescribe T and the sharps to inject at home. I can also do it weekly with lower doses to minimize spikes. Much cheaper option for self pay. Here's how easy it is to do:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
