Hi Kacee! You're right, does seem to be quite a few TX folks here! That's good for us though, lots of friends and neighbors to communicate with. I remember finding LBT from a link on Dr Spivak's website. I like the variety this forum offers, and of 'course all the wonderful people who are on the same journey.

I wanted to wish you good luck with your upcoming surgery on 5/23... I bet you're getting excited, making all final preparations.

Dr Spivak did my surgery in Oct 2005, and I've had slow/steady progress. I'm about 25-30 lbs from goal and plan to get there by my 2 yr anniversary in October.

All the best,

Karla

I'm 4th generation Texan... my ancestors settled around the El Campo area after leaving Czechoslovakia. What about ya'll? Can't imagine living anywhere else (except maybe Colorado...during the summer!!)

My great grandfather was walked down on the Trail of Tears with my full blood Cherokee grandmother. He was an Irish schoolteacher. My grandfather was born on a reserve before Oklahoma was a state. He then moved down into Texas in the early 1900's. I absolutely LOVE Texas. I have been to other places, but there is no place like home. God bless Texas.

Now living in McKinney, north of Dallas. Home is farther west Abilene/Lubbock region.

Are you still in El Campo TerriDoodle? I am from Wharton :(

There are a lot of Texans here! :)

Cool! No, I grew up and live in Houston but we have the family farm in New Taiton and all my best memories are there. I still have some family in El Campo and that's where we gather for holidays.

Hey, TerriDoodle!

I live in El Campo and am new to this forum. I hope to be banded in March or April after I bring my BMI down close to 50 and lose about 40 pounds. My doctor is Guillermo ponce de leon from Sugar Land, and I will have the surgery at The Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. Do you know anything about him? Later, Katie

HI HeatherGurl,

Hey Wharton girl. I live in El Campo. I hope to be banded in March or April after I lose 40 pounds and bring my BMI down to 50. I noticed that you have lost 190 pounds!!!!! That's awesome!!!!! Have you kept the weight off? How do you like that new KFC and Taco Bell? I haven't eaten there yet -- trying to lose that weight! I'd love to hear back from you.

I live north of Houston at Lake Conroe. I work in Bryan and was banded there by Dr. Mason in December 2007.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
