Third month slow down

Recommended Posts

Up until I hit about three months give or take a few days I've noticed my weight loss slow to a crawl 10-11lbs every two weeks to about half that. I knew this was coming from reading other people's posts, and I'm not totally blind sided. I'm just curious how others got through this and/or boosted their weight loss again. I'm thinking doing a shake for Breakfast and lunch, currently I'm only doing on for breakfast, and maybe make my evening hike a little longer.

Anything helps thanks in advance for replying!

The trick for me was increase my Water and exercise. Whenever I hit one of these stalls, I added two additional glasses of Water to my day. At the same time I upped my workouts to new level (45 minutes on the treadmill instead of 30, a faster pace, or a steeper incline - sometimes all of them). It sometimes took a few days, but the stall always broke.

Good luck!

Carol

I am 6 months out and so many things factor into your weight loss after WLS surgery. There is no guaranteed amount you will lose and some lose faster and some slower. In my support groups I have learned that everyone is on their own journey. During those journeys there are smooth roads, rough roads, unexpected delays, needs for repair before continuing on, pit stops, etc. That being said I believe there are things you can do to maximize your weight loss. Follow the proper dietary guidelines for the phase you are in, follow up with your nutritionist, make sure you are hydrating properly and hitting your Protein mark (that can affect weight loss). I have lost 80lbs and have 20 more to go. Weight loss has slowed down but I can't complain I am still losing. Two weeks could go by and no loss then I lose. I no longer have Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and some of my other medical conditions have improved. THANK GOD. If you are adhering to the "rules" you will be successful but it's kinda on your body's terms. I would suggest taking measurements if you haven't already as a way to see your progress and re-take them every 4 weeks. I would also suggest not weighing yourself to much during the weight loss phase. I wait at least 5 days...This is just what has worked for me and what I've learned this far on my journey. Best Wishes

How did I get through my own plateaus you ask? Very, very simple. I wrote down this quote and posted it everywhere and I mean everywhere. (work, car, locker, gym bag, fridge, bathroom mirror, etc.)

"Hold the vision and trust the process"

I held my vision, worked my plan, and trusted the process. I would be happy to share more details with you if you are interested. I agree 100% with angleface811, "everyone is on their own journey"

Best wishes!!!!

I definitely agree everyone is on their own journey and I that thought when I want to compare to other people. I have an appointment scheduled on the 20th with the nutritionist, so this is a question I plan on addressing when I go. I was just looking for some insight on what others did when they noticed a stall. I've already lost 60lbs and it makes me feel incredible, but I still have ways to go and that's just fine. :) I weigh myself maybe once every two weeks sometimes longer, but I'm due to retake my measurements. I appreciate the responses!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
