I went and done the stupidest thing ever...I made my family the most beautiful pan of lasagna I've ever made in my life...5 days out from surgery. UGH! It didn't bother me a bit to make it, but later when they would heat up left overs, the smell literally made me drool every time. I finally sent the rest of the pan to work with my 20 year old son to share with the other guys he worked with. My

Husband said "that's not fair! I wanted more" I said "sorry bud, but I had to get it out my house, cause I was almost to the point of wantin to just get in it and roll around in it" I'm NOT kidding! I had no issues till I made that blasted lasagna and it's been downhill since with the food smells (Italian destroys me the worst!)

My mom has the same meals she's been making for YEARS; one of them is Spaghetti. Well, I don't know what happened, but about a year ago, I stopped liking it; the smell, the taste, everything! I've told her multiple times I don't like it.

Last night, guess what she made?? I know she made it with good intentions because she didn't wanna make something that would tempt me (4 days post op here), but I kid you not, I WOULD'VE EATEN SOME IF I COULD'VE!!!

Yeah, I was suprised at how good food still smells and that I kind of want it. I didn't think I'd want anything.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
