Two more sleeps for this chick.. Does it hurt to drink fluids afterwards? You're only able to sip for the longest time right? Is this because of the potential of tearing or hurting the pouch or because you physically cannot?

Its physically not easy for some at first, at least for me. I was a huge Water drinker my whole life. But it gets better very quickly. Now I can eat and drink no problem and it's only been a short time.

You will do great!

Thanks Bella, I was supposed to start practicing to sip Water etc.. But I'm a gulper by nature. I'm sure I'll be ok though.. I'll be very aware and basically my job for the next 4 weeks is to be mindful and go by the book.

Thanks for the advice.

Shelly

I am a gulper too..it's nothing for me to down a whole bottle of water in one swoop...I was thinking of maybe having a medicine dropper for the first day or so to make sure I don't take any sips that are too large and painful...

and then there were 2 days !! Thanks for the replies folks. Yeah I'm a big Water drinker, even keep ice Water on side of bed at night. Im also big at "washing" it down when I eat. Been practicing but hard. I have lost almost 17 lbs pre-op though!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
