Possible Lap band leaking!

Recommended Posts

I went for a fill today, instilled 1cc of saline today and the nurse pulled back to measure Fluid because I had 7.5cc of Fluid in since Aug. 18 2014 with not much restriction, she could only get 2cc of fluid back under fluoro, she tried several times with no success, she think their might be a leak somewhere. Even though I have lost almost 25 pounds I'm devastated, don't know for sure yet, going for barium swallow on Monday, If anyone has experienced this please help, let me know what to expect, I cant have surgery again because I can't take time off from work, nor do I have the time to take, please pray for me that it's something simple.

Thanks

Tiffany

complications are horrible. I pray that there is a explanation other than a leaking band. I lost a cc of Fluid but the tests were all normal, no leaking band. you are doing so well. keep up the good work even if there is a problem. it is hard. but can be done. hope all goes well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
