Gall Bladder Problems AFTER Having Band Removed

Recommended Posts

I had my band removed last December after three years of problems.

I'm struggling with controlling my weight, but taking it day-by-day.

Within the last week, despite my careful diet control I.e., salads, yogurt - no sugar, junk food etc., I've developed pain in the area of my gall bladder. When I push on the area - who hasn't had something they've worried about and can't stop touching - I get an instant acid reflux feeling in my throat!? Is this nuts?

Has anyone else experienced this? This long after band removal?

Seeing my doctor on Thursday, but I can't help worrying.

not sure

but sometimes when people lose vast amounts of weight, sometimes the gall bladder is removed.

that is what happened to me years ago during one of my yo yo dieting up and downs

and i understand the controlling weight part

the only thing i can offer is 3500 calories is a pound ate or drank

and if one takes in more calories than they burn off, they will not lose and can gain

its how i got super morbid obese.

make better food choices

no processed/boxed/fast food items (loaded with salt/grease) you know the good stuff :)

and def leave soda and high cal beverages out..

its hard i know

we've been there

go to your doctor

get that pain issue took care of

and then make that change to get yourself well

eating, exercising and living.

wishing you the best.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
