CIGNA ins...help....what does this mean?

Recommended Posts

Hi!! Congratulations!! I'm doing well...slow, but good. I had about 40-50lbs to loose and so far, including per op diet, I have lost about 20. It seems to be like 1 lb per week and I voiced my concern about this to my doctor. He said I was pretty much on schedule for someone who didn't have to loose a lot. Of course, I think leak or something wrongs but according to them I'm good. The pain in my stomach is still there but on my right side...weird. I'm onto puréed foods and still have an issue getting all my Protein in....I did hear about the nectar protein which you can buy at Vitamin shop...pretty good way of getting protein and tasty. How is your pain?

My surgery went very well. I decided after the operation to refuse pain meds in the hospital because I didn't want to deal with the nausea like I had with the band surgery. They ended up sending me home the next day - surgeon told me my band had slightly slipped and formed a hernia which he removed. No problems getting Protein Drinks and Water in. So far the only soft food I have been eating is 3oz of mashed potato mixed with 1/4 can of Hormel Chili with Beans & shredded cheese- microwaved & mixed. It's SO good after having all those shakes. I'm going to start with Soup tomorrow.

I do think I'm going to be one of those "slow losers " always have been. I just don't want to get frustrated

I'm going to be a slow looser too!!! I don't feel any restriction so to speak! I ate a half a sandwich no problem!!! Wth?? I know 6 weeks out not the best idea but since day 1 I have not felt restriction. I know coming from the band I'm not used to freedom but right now, as silly as it seems, I wonder if anything was even done...lol

I'm feeling the restriction but I'm also having acid reflux problems. I saw the surgeon yesterday for my post-op - told him abut the reflux and he sad it was my esophagus but it hadn't been that bad so we really didn't dwell on it. Last night though - it was bad. I've only been taking tums but I think I'm going to go to the store to pick up something stronger. I'm going to start soft foods today.

I'm also not feeling as hungry this week as I was last week

I feel great...too great! I have pretty much zero restriction. I know with my band, if I ate too much, it came up. Not normal in any way but I'm trying to find that happy balance. This is so much more of a normal way of life and I love that aspect of it but I thought I would have some kind of restriction. I have not lost an ounce in weeks. I'm back to exercising also. It's been really disappointing but I'm trying not to let it get the best of me

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
