Two Months From Today

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is exactly two months from today and I still don't know if I am doing the right thing. Does anyone ever go into surgery with absolute confidence that they are making the right decision? I have been thinking about this and researching this for years and what pushed me over the edge was my fatty, inflamed liver. My liver enzymes were way out and when the liver biopsy was done, they found that I had stage 3 liver fibrosis with stage 4 being cirrhosis, just because I had so much fat, but because I have now lost some weight and upped my exercise, my liver enzymes are now normal. It was easy to decide when I thought my liver was rotting out, but now it is not as clear. I do have other issues, sleep apnea, diabetes, joint pain and no energy. I don't understand why all of those things don't scare me as much as the liver. Thank you for listening and good luck to all.

Peace

I think a lot of us worry whether we are doing the right thing or not. I was nervous going in the OR, still at 2 weeks out feeling nervous for my life ahead of me. I think once all our weight related complications begin to disappear, we love what we have done. I have read from multiple people on this forum that they really love their decision at 3-6 months out from surgery.

Fearing the unknown is quite normal. My surgery is 11/24 and I'm nervous but my excitement is greater than that nervousness. I know that this is going to be one of the best decisions of my life. For so long I've wanted to live a healthier lifestyle for myself and my young children. If I continue living in the skin I'm in, I won't be living life to the fullest. My lack of energy is slowly taking a toll on my household and I've run out of excuses as to why I never want to do anything. My family deserves more and so do I. Congrats on your surgery date and good luck on your journey!!

Reading what all of you have written makes me feel better about my own fears and doubts. My surgery is Nov. 11th. Like 1NaturalLoser I feel like my weight has has an impact on my family and the lives of those I care about. I look forward to the day when I can finally do the things I used to love to do, and not have to make excuses anymore. I'm very anxious and I think it's the fear of the unknown. I've read so much and heard so many things that at this point I'm trying to keep the positive and the negative information in balance. I know some people have bad experiences, and that's a reality, but I believe that the positives outway the negatives.

We're all in this together, and keeping in touch will help all of us succeed.

Y'all are a great group and this is what I needed. My weight does impact my family even when I try not to let it. I just don't have the energy or desire to go. Our lives are going to change.

My surgery is in the morning. I started the journey last year but stopped because I did not feel comfortable with the doctor I first picked. Fast forward 7 months later and I found an amazing surgeon that I have complete confidence in. I have diabetes, sleep apnea, hbp and fatty liver. I am doing this to not only change my life, but to save my life. I'm a little nervous about surgery but no regrets with my decision. Good luck to you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
