:clap2: I had my psy evaluation today and all went well. I am so excited. I see the dietician on monday. So far so good with the insurance. Hope they don't pull any last minute tricks. I never realized there would be so much work involved in getting ready for surgery.

I get banded bright and early in the morning! I am so excited, but nervous as well, hoping that I can handle the changes. ;) I actually surprised myself with self control on the pre op diet so....I'm hoping that stays with me over the next few weeks. :(

Banded 5/10/07

Great going! My EKG read abnormal; so I went to a cardiologist - his read was normal but wants stress test, echo done....I'm hoping insurance doesn't give me a problem; I wouldn't think so but they haven't paid for the first EKG saying it's not covered. We'll see -- I'll deal with it either way.

I'm so sorry that you had to pay for your EKG. I had to have one as well and the stress test, as far as I know insurance is paying those but tomorrow I am paying for the surgery. Hang in there, have the stress test, it will all work out in the end. The cardiologist said that in the long run I will be saving a lot more then money. ;)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hope all goes well for you....and yes, it is a lot of work to get the surgery done....especially if you are having to go thru the insurance company for payment....I did self-pay, but still had to do a few things...

i have BCBS of New Jersey, and they have covered every prick, prod, poke and test the drs have wanted. I know there are subtle nuances between what everyones insurance covers but I'm really suprissed that your EKG wasnt covered. My hospital requires an EKG, Stresstest and Echo before any surgery. I would look through your benefits and see if it directly indicates that EKGs etc are not covered. Good Luck

I have Blue Cross & Blue Sheild of IL. They pay 90% if you meet the requirements. My Dr. assured I meet them. I saw him yesterday 5-17-07. Now all that there is to do is wait.

Serene, you are a week postop how are you?

The 1st EKG is probably going to be a self pay since I likely got a little overzealous and made the appt as soon as I had nursing assessment. The approval didn't get processed for another day or two. Oh well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed on everything else. Interesting thing is once I got the letter, it stated "this is not a guarantee of claims payment". Whatever, I'll do it and if the insurance doesn't pay, they can try to get the $ out of me -- prison food will probably be okay after the first 6 wks right? :omg:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
