anyone scheduled for surgery in nov?

Recommended Posts

For those of you, including me, going to Tijuana - it is three syllables and is pronounced Tee-wa-na (Ti/jua/na). Many English-speakers mistakenly pronounce it Tee-a-wa-na adding in an extra syllable (Ti/a/jua/na) but that is only because many people do not read or speak Spanish and are repeating how they've heard it incorrectly pronounced before.

I feel it is important when traveling to another country to respect their language and culture. If we all take a little time to learn a few words in Spanish before our trip it can make our experience more rewarding and maybe even impress our surgeon and his staff.

P.S. I am by no means fluent in any language besides English, but my husband is bilingual and when I visited his home country of Guatemala his family appreciated any time I tried to communicate in their native language. I learned the basics before going - how to order my food, ask for the bathroom, ask for the police/hospital/consulate, and greetings and manners.

Nov 6 th here. Worried about being able to take my meds, but I have to put it in Gods hands. I'm HIV positive, and the HIV meds are rather large. I can't crush them. And I have to take them. I'm praying I'll be OK. And ask for any thoughts, or ideas. Or if anyone else is worried about taking meds.

Hi Robert most of us have to take some kind of meds that we can't go without so your not alone there have you asked your dr that prescribes your meds if there is any alternative? Or the surgeon doing your procedure maybe they know what to do it seems from what I've read that it gets easier with time after a few days to swallow at least small pills could u possibly cut them with a pill cutter to make them into smaller pcs? I'll be asking the surgeon when I see him about that as I too have to take some heart meds that I can't skip best of luck to you!

November 14th :)

My date was pushed back a week due to a conference that my surgeons are attending. Bummed me out but everything happens for a reason. It still doesn't seem real. All this preparation and it still sort of feels like a dream or something. But I'm excited!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
