I think the people who have to wait are the ones with a lot of scar tissue or damage from the band itself. Yes a revision is what the procedure I'm having is called. I'm hoping one operation for mine. My surgeon didn't say he wouldn't do it in one go, he is also going to check out my gallbladder to see if that needs to come out as well. My band is still a funny acting thing even with it unfilled. I just want a normal feeling stomach once again, which is what most revised patients from lap band feel like after having the RNY. I just can't wait to be on that losers bench!

Hello everyone :-) this is my first post so hope u all can see it. I had lap band surgery 9/2009, and will be having a revision to RNY Sept 30, 2014. I am at my all time highest weight now of 386, and pray this surgery will give me the tools to be a healthier person. I had testing in July of this year that showed my band had slipped up, causing a stricture at the base of my esophagus, who knows how long it's been that way. I will be having my surgery at St. Vincent Carmel with Dr. Christopher Evanson, who is planning to remove the band and complete the RNY. I enjoy reading everyone's posts.. Love & Prayers of success to everyone

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
